The best time for a realtor to give a memorable closing gift....
----> is not anytime around when people are thinking about moving.
We have all encountered situations where someone wants to ask us something when we are walking out the door to go somewhere. That is inconvenient. Handing out closing gifts with the keys is probably less awkward than that, but it is happening at a time that is 10 times more distracting than when you are a few minutes late to meet someone for lunch. Your clients are thinking about movers, and dogs, and boxes and time and energy in general. Why not get permission from your client for a followup time that is going to be far better received?
Lets make this one of the shortest blog posts ever. Try this and please write me and let me know how it went.
- Ask your client at the key exchange if you can set up another quick meeting with them in their new home in about a month so that you can give them the gift that you are having personalized for them right now that isnt done yet? Then set a date on the calendar for you to call them to arrange the actual time.
- Then when you meet with them they will be way less distracted and better able to receive your thoughtful gift. (less the boxes and stress of planning and executing the move).
- This may be a great time for you to ask them if they happen to know any friends or family that may be looking for a realtor too. Could be a really good day for you with another commission disbursement in your future!
